New Horizons Community Church is a growing, welcoming, and Jesus-centred church in Sarnia, Ontario. We are part of the Free Methodist Church in Canada, and we’re deeply committed to being a healthy, outward-focused, and intergenerational church.
We currently average 125 - 135 people on Sunday mornings, with consistent growth across all ages. Our youth ministry gathers around 20 students weekly, and we are intentionally investing in the next generation as part of our calling and future.
We believe church should be:
* Rooted in Scripture
* Shaped by grace
* Lived out in authentic community
* Creative, pastoral, and hopeful
We’re in a season of momentum, and we’re praying for the right people to grow with us.
About the Role
We are prayerfully searching for a full-time Assistant Pastor with a primary focus on:
* Youth Ministry
* Young Adults
* Pastoral ministry shaped around personal giftings
This role is ideal for a pastor who loves the local church, is passionate about the next generation, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. We believe God uniquely gifts each pastor, and this role will be shaped to reflect both the needs of the church and the strengths of the individual.
Rather than forcing everyone into the same mould, we want to discern how this role can best fit the gifts God has already placed in you.

New Horizons Community Church is located in Sarnia, Ontario, a vibrant border city on Lake Huron. We’re part of the Free Methodist Church in Canada, serving both our neighbourhood and the wider Sarnia-Lambton community.
We currently average 125 - 135 people on Sunday mornings, with a strong mix of ages and backgrounds. Our culture is warm, relational, and grounded. We value pastoral presence, authenticity, creativity, and shared leadership. This is a church where people know each other’s names, and their stories.
Growing young means more than starting new programs. It’s a commitment to:
Prioritizing relationships across generations
Empowering young people with real leadership
Creating space for questions, faith formation, and belonging
Shaping church culture, not just age-specific ministries
We believe a church that grows young becomes healthier for everyone.
The primary focus is Youth and Young Adults, with pastoral ministry shaped around the individual’s strengths and calling. This is not a “one-size-fits-all” role. We want to build the role with the right person, not force someone into a box.
Our youth ministry consistently gathers around 20 students. It’s relational, welcoming, and steadily growing. Students show up because they feel known, safe, and invited into faith, not because they’re pressured.
Yes, our hope is that you would become part of the teaching team. We value shared leadership and want pastors to serve in areas where they are both gifted and growing. Preaching opportunities will be part of this role, but they are not the sole focus.
Yes. This role could be a great fit for someone early or mid-career, provided they have a clear sense of calling, a heart for the next generation, and a desire to grow within a team-based pastoral environment.
Applicants should be aligned with, or open to, Free Methodist (Wesleyan) theology and values. We’re happy to walk through that together as part of the discernment process.
Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada. Only those selected for a next conversation will be contacted.
